Diagnosis before treatment, every time
The full diagnostic workup drives the plan. The consultation is the diagnosis.
Specialist Periodontist - Downtown Los Angeles
Perio Implant Health Professionals is a specialist periodontist practice in downtown Los Angeles. Patients come to us for diagnosis-led periodontal and implant care from a board-certified specialist — not a general dentist offering specialist procedures on the side.
What we treat
Specialist periodontal and implant care, end to end — from gum disease and recession through to implants, grafting, and the foundation work that supports them.
Gum disease, recession, grafting, crown lengthening, and aesthetic gum work — diagnosed and treated by a specialist periodontist.
Implant planning and surgical placement by the same specialist who manages the gum and bone the implant relies on.
Full-arch implant rehabilitation for patients with extensive tooth loss, planned around long-term stability.
Foundation procedures to rebuild lost bone before implants can be placed safely. Often the difference between a case that lasts and one that does not.
Multi-tooth implant-supported bridges for patients who have lost a section of teeth, planned around the bite and the existing dentition.
Aesthetic-side soft-tissue work — re-proportioning the gum line, addressing recession, and refining the smile frame ahead of restorative work.
The doctor
DDS · CAGS · MSD · Board-certified periodontist
Dr. Angel Rodriguez (DDS, CAGS, MSD) is a board-certified specialist periodontist and the doctor every patient sees at Perio Implant Health Professionals. After dental school he completed an accredited postgraduate residency in periodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry — the formal pathway to specialist status in this field.
Dr. Rodriguez has practiced in downtown Los Angeles for more than 15 years. Many patients are referred in for one specific concern — a graft, a recession problem, an implant case another office could not place — and stay with the practice for the long-term maintenance afterward.
The philosophy is candid and conservative. Preservation first, replacement only when the case truly calls for it, and an honest answer about what each option will look like five and ten years from now.
Why specialist care
Not every dentist offering periodontal procedures is a board-certified specialist. A periodontist completes three additional years of postgraduate training devoted entirely to gums, bone, and implants. The depth of that training shows in the diagnosis — pocket depths, CT-scan bone levels, recession patterns, and how existing dental work is interacting with the underlying tissue.
Dental work needs to last twenty, thirty, forty years. Preservation comes first, replacement only when the case truly calls for it, and an honest answer about what each option will look like a decade from now. Patients tend to think in years; we plan in decades.
The full diagnostic workup drives the plan. The consultation is the diagnosis.
When a procedure is best handled elsewhere, we say so and refer out. We say no to treatments we do not believe deliver durable, long-term results.
